Pioneer Fellowship

Roon is excited to announce the launch of our Pioneer Fellowship — where twenty healthcare professionals will learn how to become medical content creators in a cohort environment, while creating accessible, high-quality content for patients and caregivers.
All selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $1,000. There will be one weekly, virtual meeting with lectures and group workshops. You will learn skills in content production from experts in film, medicine, and social media. Content created during the fellowship will be featured on Roon’s platform reaching patients and caregivers in one of our four starting conditions: glioblastoma multiforme, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, dementia, and long COVID.
Applications are rolling with our first round of evaluations starting April 15th.

About Us

We aspire to be the place where all people experiencing challenging health conditions go to find information, community, and support. We were founded by a collective of scientists, doctors, entrepreneurs, and engineers, backed by leaders in Silicon Valley, including Sequoia Capital . We started by helping people navigate Glioblastoma and are now expanding to ALS, dementia, and long COVID. Everything we do starts with a deep understanding of patient and caregiver needs. And everything we create combines medical expertise with the lived experiences . We are patients and caregivers building for patients and caregivers.

What is a medical content creator?

A medical content creator is anyone with expertise and a passion for teaching who brings their knowledge to a broad audience via social media. At Roon, we are working with top medical content creators who are leading experts in their field from institutions including Harvard, Columbia, UCSF, and Stanford. They are already sharing their insights on our platform with patients and caregivers every day. The Pioneer Fellowship will help train the next generation of top creators.

What are the details?

The Pioneer Fellowship is meant for early-career doctors and healthcare professionals who want to become medical content creators and expand their social media skills. You will join a community of like-minded professionals and receive training from experts in storytelling and media.
Pay: The Pioneer Class Fellowship is a paid position with a stipend of $1,000 per month.
Commitment: The fellowship is designed for active clinicians with busy schedules. It is a planned 3-month commitment. There will be:
One joint meeting per week in the early evening
Each fellow will be responsible for producing three to ten answer videos per week. (The average answer is 30 seconds in duration.) These can be shot on your smartphone or home setup.
The fellow will also be responsible for editing the footage down to a suitable length with our team’s guidance.
Videos will be workshopped as a group where fellows will receive feedback from peers and leaders in social media, medicine, and film.
Growth: After the fellowship, we may offer the opportunity to stay on with Roon in a content or leadership role.
Application: We purposefully designed the application below to be brief. We hope you will tell us why you aspire to become a medical content creator. If you have the time, try recording a short video where you tell us about yourself or teach something to a lay audience. After receiving your application, we will interview the top applicants and should reach a decision by the end of April.
Health Equity: We are committed to building a platform that serves patients and caregivers from all cultures and backgrounds. Similarly, Roon wants our medical content creators to reflect the broad patient and caregiver audience we serve. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Additional Information: Often, our starting creators have questions about institutional permission, liability, process, and more. We have partnered with numerous leading institutions already and can provide additional details upon request. Feel free to email me:
